How far in advance should we book?

Of course there are always the occasional last minute booking, but why take the chance that your favourite photographer might be booked…book early and book often!

How many images will we receive? – My goal is to tell your story… fully, completely and beautifully. In doing so, I emphasize quality over quantity, employing a “less is more” philosophy.  I’d would rather give you a fewer number of “OMG” photographs, than a lot of “meh” ones that will sit in a folder or desk drawer never to see the light of day.

Do I get all the images you take? –  You will definitely hear my camera clicking…a lot! I take a lot of images in order to capture that perfect moment. No, you won’t get every image that I take. I will choose the best of the best and those images will be edited and delivered to you according to the package you’ve chosen.

When will we receive our images? – I aim to dazzle you with a couple “sneak peeks” within a few days of your shoot.  But the best things in life come to those who wait, my creative commitment to you extends well beyond your shooting day.  It can generally take me up to two weeks to complete a portrait shoot depending on how busy I am and the type of shoot we did and package you have selected.  (A wedding shoot can take in the area of 6 to 8 weeks to complete).

Do you travel for destination weddings and other types of shoots? – I would love traveling for destination weddings and various shoots, to help you make the most of your memories in that location. Packages are determined by the location and how far I need to travel. Please contact me for a custom quote.

What do you need from us on the day of our shoot? –  This is a tricky question because there are so many different types of shoots.  For portrait sessions show up with what you want to be in the photos, if you want to try different outfits, have any hair and make-up done that you wish (and ladies, bring that stuff to do ‘touch ups’!), any props you want to use, make sure they are with you.  For Weddings and events I really try to encourage my clients to pretend I’m not there unless it’s for a specific set shot.  It is such a special day, I want you to enjoy it and have fun.  I love shooting all those real moments, tears and laughter.  I try not to interfere because you lose the moment if someone is there trying to directing you.

Do you offer gift certificates? –  Absolutely!  These make great gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and more!

How long do your gift certificates last from time of purchase? –  Gift certificates must have your session booked and shot within sixty (60) days from time of purchase.

Why is wedding photography so expensive? –  A lot of people tend to see wedding photography as just the 5-10 odd hours the photographer shoots on the day of the wedding. But by our calculations, we spend over 40+ hours on each wedding. Right from the first contact, the subsequent meetings, emails and phone calls, the hours start piling up. The engagement shoot will probably take 2-3 hours, editing its images another several hours. The wedding day itself throws out over a hundreds of images which could take anywhere between 12-16 hours to go through, edit, images need to be backed up, uploaded, albums designed, modified, all the while continuing communications with you, the printers, etc.

“Weeks” after your wedding, while other vendors have long since moved on to other projects, we’ll be the only ones still working on your wedding.

What is “editing, image enhancement, color/tone correction” and why is it important? –  Image enhancement is the “post-processing” of your images in programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. With digital photography, the RAW image file directly out of the camera can appear extremely flat. The post processing of your photos brings out the very best in each image with respect to color, contrast, exposure and tone, allowing you to view your photos as they were intended to be viewed.

Do I need to pay a deposit? –  Yes please. In order to secure your session date I do require a 50% deposit. This is a non-refundable fee if you cancel or are a no show, if you reschedule with 48 hours notice it will be used towards your next date.

Can you arrange Makeup & Hair? –  Yes. We use several highly qualified make up artists & hair stylists that are simply fantastic available for an additional fee. They will work with you to provide whatever look you require.

How do we pay for your service? –  You can make payments via email money transfer, cash, or credit card.

Who owns the images? –  All of the images taken by a photographer remain his or her exclusive property, as stated by “Copyright Law.” Images are licensed for your specific usage, and copyright can be transferred if you are interested in a complete “buy out” of the images. This is not necessary for most clients, and will often cost more than the shoot itself, but is available as an option.
